So I've searched the site (maybe incorrectly?) but really haven't found anything. It's hard finding iron sights for less money than God's bank account... So does anybody have thoughts or experience with custom tritium inserts? I ask not only for AR builds but also my C64, IMI 941FS and a couple other handguns the don't exactly have COTS options that I'm aware of.

I'm dying to get my paws on an M9-ish gun, but, given the front sight is integral to the frame, I've heard it needs to be drilled out to get a different sight picture... off-topic, I know, but just an example of how I'm thinking for AR iron sights.

Full disclosure: I've been a tritium junkie ever since reading and re-reading the mechanism of the Teller-Ulam two-stage design. As to turns out, Taiwanese red tritium vials, while relatively weak compared to green, are extremely useful on keychains even low-, vs no-, light situations. Or at least in my experience.

I'm having trouble understanding your issue with iron sights.  Fixed or folding?  A2 front or something else.  Just rear only or both? Why the attraction to tritium and what does that have to do with your complaint about cost of sights?  What are you looking to spend?  Pardon, but the post seems disjointed.

Keychains and rifle sights?

BTW, I have Trijicon tritium on my Glock.  They are useful only on the first shot, as you will not be able to see them after that if you actually shoot in the dark due to muzzle flash.  Useless with a  weapon light, which you need for target identification.

For custom tritium sights there's only one game in town that I'm aware of.  They do good work, but if you don't like the cost of production sights, you'll hate what these cost.
