I'm having a hard time lining up the bcm comp to the right position. When I hand tighten it, the BCM logo is at the 9 o'clock position. And if I remember correctly the logo should be at the 12 o'clock position(facing up)....

I'm doing the tighten the backing out then tighten again..... Just keep doing that?

then you should be able to just tighten it the 1/4 turn it needs, just crush the crush washer

My mistake.. It needs 3/4 turn... Shoot If It was 1/4 turn I could have gotten that easy LoL.

The mistakes people make here are...

1) Restraining the receiver and not the barrel. (use barrel blocks)

2) Putting mental amounts of torque on the muzzle. (keep torque down)

The M16/M4 Tech Manual says 15-20 ft. lbs.
The muzzle is the last thing that the bullet sees, so you don't want to screw that up.
That's also why you never clean from the muzzle end whenever possible.

Start with a new crush washer and add a shim ' thin washer' if needed.

Crush washers require 1/4 turn minimum then turn to position.
Crush washers are rated for 1-1/4 turns.
A shim should not be needed.

I have never run across a bad crush washer, but I don’t use them very often either.

Well... It's funny how having the proper tools can make this Jon so much easier..

Vice, upper receiver block... Simple torque and bam. No problem... Aligned the bottom so it sits at the 6oclock position.... The BCM logo at the top doesn't seem to be 100% centered or it could be my eyes playing tricks on me, but the bottom part where there are no vents sits at the 6oclock position.
