Are you talking the TRX quad rail, or TRX extreme? If you are talking extreme, I would suggest getting the Troy Alpha instead. I'm getting that in 13" no built in flip up sight.

There discontinuing the TRX Extreme.. its now the Troy Alpha and uses a standard barrel nut..

The TRX Standard is becoming the Troy Bravo.. not sure if it uses a proprietary barrel nut or standard nut..

I would assume they would move to using the standard barrel nut on the Bravo as well. I have not read into that one, but if the OP is looking at the standard TRX, I would suggest holding out for the Bravo because I heard swapping barrel nuts is somewhat of a hassle.

I just installed two of the 13" TRX extremes and be advised....you need a LOW profile gas block such as the YHM.  There is just not much room inside the tube.  Be sure to install any rail pieces first.  Also, there is no provision for a bipod stud, so you will need at least a rail on the bottom.  Troy needs to shave a couple thousands from the inside of the barrel nut they use.  Damn hard to line up a slot without hitting 60 ft/lbs. +.   I have never had to go that far before.  The rail is rough textured if you have not handled one.  I like it, but in 3 Gun it might be a bit knarly.  Next build I think I will look hard at the MI SS series in 15".  Enjoy your new toy :)

I decided to go with the Rainier Evo, but the Troy was option # 2, by just the tiniest of margins.
