Trying to decide between a US Optic SR-C 1-4 and a Schmidt and Bender 1-8.
Pros/cons/etc. Go |

Your choices are between a $1, 500 1-4, and a $3, 000 1-8. That's a pretty big spread on price and magnification maybe if you narrowed it down a bit and gave us an idea of what it is you want the optic to do we could give you some better advice on what would best fit you and your needs.
Your in two different price ranges first $3, 000 for the S & B. I've looked though a lot of glass and I own a lot of glass including an S & B and a MK8 CQBSS. If you're serious about a scope in this price range (most people that ask aren't) then you need to look at the MK8 CQBSS along with the S & B. In some categories the MK8 will be excell and in others the S & B will. The S & B has a better and very cool dual mode illumination system but the MK8 w/H27 is daylight bright and the FFP reticle becomes one center dot like an aimpoint. The MK8 is FFP and the S & B is SFP. I perfer H27 reticle in the MK8 but the CQB2 has a very clean reticle for those that don't care for trees. The MK8 has a better turret locking system but the S & B's turrets have more defined clicks. The MK8's glass has a bit warmer color pallet than the S & B and I can not tell which has higher resolution, however the glass on both scopes is absolutely amazing. I perfer the power selector on the MK8, and handling the MK8 gives the impression of a durable optic built to take military abuse, but I've never thought an S & B was fragile. There's a lot of tis for tat with these scopes but both represent the absolute best in no compromise high end 1-8x optics. Here's a review of both here. Keep in mind that Frank had the TMR reticle in the MK8 he reviewed which is not daylight bright and does not have the illuminated daylight bright aimpoint like center dot that the H27 does and that's refected in his review on the MK8. As for your second price range $1, 500 for the USO 1-4. If you're leaning more in this price range and don't need exposed turrets for $1,400 I would get a Razor Gen ii. With the exception of weight in all aspects, glass quality, warrenty, durability, and magnification range a Razor gen ii 1-6x will smoke a USO 1-4x scope. If you do need turrets take a look at the Leupold MK6 1-6 for few hundred more or the VX6 1-6. And btw what was up was up with your recommendations for an S & B ultra short to "launch 175grs of attitude adjustment" in other thread when the OP was asking about alternatives to a Viper PST for his 6.5G? |
