Had an unfired round go high in my upper and bend the gas tube out of spec. It's back close to where it was but I know it could be fine-tuned. Any suggestions, tricks or tips from the forum on how to get it aligned perfectly? Thanks |

Take you upper off. Drive the gas tube pin out. Push the gas tube back letting it push the BCG back as well. When the gas tube is clear of the front sight base just look at where it wants to rest. If it is not in perfect alignment with the hole it came out of, bend in small ammounts till it does line up with hole. When happy, put gas tube back in hole and replace pin. You should then be done. |

1. Separate your upper and lower receiver. 2. Disassemble your bolt and carrier. 3. With the upper receiver inverted, insert the stripped bolt carrier into the upper receiver. 4. Tip the rear of the receiver up allowing the carrier to slide forward under it’s own weight. 5. If the gas tube is aligned correctly with the bolt carrier, the carrier will slide effortlessly over the gas tube. 6. If the gas tube is not correctly aligned with the bolt carrier, bend the gas tube forward of the slip ring in the desired direction. Repeat steps 3-5 above. 7. I personally get better results by bending the gas tube inside the upper receiver verses bending it forward of the slip ring. This procedure is also found in the Army -23&P, which can be found under the tacked thread at the top of page one. |
