I am a rookie at this the me get that outta the way first.
I have heard that the faster twist rates will not stabilize a lighter bullet. I would like to shoot a 77 grain bullet but on ocassion plinking with 55 grains is way cheaper. I was wondering if any one has any problems with this or could offer anymore info ???

Actually you have it backwards.  Slow twist rates (1/12) won't stabilize a heavy bullet.

Faster twist rates such as 1/7 will stabilize 55 grain bullets fine.  Although the opitimal twist rate for 55gr accuracy is 1/12 twist.

my 1:12 twist on my les baer wont hit a 12 x 12 inch piece of paper at 100 yards using 68 gr hpbt- if you want to shoot looooong distance go with a 1:8 or 1:7.7 twist you can actually get a 90grain 223 bullet although a 68 -75 will work fine with this rate of twist.
