I dont want to get into a debate over Wolf is good or bad, my AR happens to like it very much, and i've never had any trouble with it. That being said,,,,,,what is the difference between the standard wolf brand, and there Military Classic Brand?,,,,,,i noticed at my local gunshop, that the Classic Military brand was actually cheaper.
My next question is,,,,,,,,How is the Brown Bear stuff?,,,,,i have never used it before, is it something to be cautious about?

Thanks...........Gunfighter

Steel cased = Mil classid with laquer.

Wolf regular = Polymer.

Pretty sure your wrong on the laquer as all the current steel cased wolf is now polymer coated   I think the difference is in the bullet construction and maybe sealants

brown bear = laquer
all current steel wolf is poly, seems to be less poly on the mil classic than regular wolf....

spoog, I do belive this is what you were trying to say.... not that mil classic was laquer coated...

How is the Brown Bear stuff?,,,,,

If it is the same as the Barnaul stuff, it is quite good... shoots somewhat better than Q3131a, in fact. I can post pics if you want.

IMHO, the best 223 ammo is FAE223 or Prvi M193 or Prvi SS109. (Not counting TAP for SHTF) The best steel ammo is Barnaul with the lacquer coat. I have shot it all and the Barnaul is the best. Yesterday, I shot a 90 rounds as fast as I could from a Beta Mag, then waited 30 seconds expecting a cookoff or jam and then slow fired another 10 rounds. Not one single jam or cookoff or other problem the whole day with Barnaul. It is the most accurate also.

Regarding Wolf Military Classic or Black box, there is no difference. Before copper became so expensive, Military Classic had a steel, copper plated bullet and black box had a copper jacket bullet. Now, both have a steel jacket, copper plated bullet and there is not a dime of difference between them. I've shot cases of both and I see no difference.

AMMO FAQ, Entry #12

Wolf black box = Tula
Wolf Military Classic = Ulyanovsk

The Wolf MC used to be green "lacquer", but Ulyanovsk has now started using the "poly" coating as well.
