FWIW, I have a milspec fire control assy that came as part of a DPMS lower parts kit.  In several steps, I polished the trigger/hammer engagement surfaces with 600 grit sandpaper, applied some moly grease.  That got the letoff down from a gritty 6 plus pounds down to a nice smooth 5 plus pounds.  No crisp break, of course, but there is a little bit of stacking towards the end of the creep.  Recently, I added a set of JP yellow springs, polished the surfaces some more and reapplied the moly grease.  Now its down to about 4 lbs total pull weight and smoother than ever.  Probably too light for NRA competition, as if I cared.  The hammer pops my Rem 7-1/2 primers no problem.  I still wish I had a clean break, like my model 70 Winchester, but I'm happy with what I have, so far anyway.  - CW

2 pounds is getting pretty light for an AR.  Can become dangerous.

Have you tried the set screw up the grip hole trick?
You have to finish tapping the grip screw hole, then install a set screw with loctite, hold trigger to the rear, screw in all the way, let go of trigger, back set screw out until you have trigger reset. WOULDNT RECOMMEND FOR A DEFENSIVE GUN but you indicated you wanted a shooter trigger not a working gun trigger.
