Hi, I've been lurking here for quite some time.  I just got my first AR a few months ago and have only put a few hundred rounds through it.

Anyways, I have two questions.  First, whats the purpose of the J pin in an AR hammer and second, whats the point in having a non-rotational hammer and trigger pin?

J pin keeps the hammer pin in the receiver.

KNS pins, well...my opinion is save your cash unless the factory pins aren't cooperating.

The idea is you want the trigger and hammer to rotate on the pins, and not have the pins rotate in your expensive lower receiver, which would ultimately cause damage that could have been avoided. I like the KNS pins because they have holes for lubrication. At first I thought these pins were unnecessary but after talking with quite a few people about them I ordered six sets for all of my lowers. If you ask me, $30 is cheap insurance.
