I purchased a upper from a guy who said it was a CMMG....i got the upper and its marked on the barrel    DTI 1/9 5.56 nato ....... this is a del-ton upper correct ? its a flattop upper with really no markings other then a KEYHOLE type marking on the reciever and the markings on the barrel... my other question is..is it crome lined ?

what upper do i have lol ???

Chrome lining is an option w/ DelTon, not sure how/if they mark them.

so you believe its a delton ?

it does have an M on the top front of the reciever face also

You can easily see the chrome reflecting if you look through the barrel.  If it there is no mirror like reflection, no CL.

It's a Del-Ton barrel.

Look at the chamber face, if there's a silverish 'ring' surrounding the chamber it's chromed.

Even the left one looks like it undercuts the barrel cut, ADCO can fix it up.

will that have a big effect on function ?

It might,if the receiver is cut deeper than the barrel so you might have feed issues, might not. If you're good w/ a dremel you can match the barrel to the receiver, if not get someone to do it.

do you know what they charge for this sort of thing

Bottom line here is.....you got ripped.

You paid for a CMMG and got a Del-Ton. Del-Ton makes a high quality product (for the money), but those M4 feedramps look like they were done by a 4-year-old with a rough file.

I wouldn't be LOLing until I got my money back from that clown.

CMMG has the keyhole forge mark.  It is possible that you have a CMMG upper with a Del-ton barrel.  However, if the guy stated that the barrel was also CMMG, I'd be a little pissed because their barrels are a bit better than the standard Wilson ones (of course wilson barrels are good too)

I just checked CMMG's site, and all of their flat top uppers already have M4 ramps.  So I wouldn't see any reason for someone to take a dremel to them (assuming that's what that gouge is from).  So either it's not even a CMMG upper, or it is, and for some reason, the previous owner decided to dremel the M4 ramps for no reason.

If it is indeed a CMMG upper, and depending on the wording of the sale/ad, he might just have meant it was a CMMG upper receiver.  Not a complete CMMG upper (which it's obviously not, by looking at that barrel).  Or of course, he could of purposely worded it to make it sound like a complete CMMG upper, knowing damn well it's not.  Let's hope it's not the latter.

the deal was quite a while ago as the upper just sat in the box in came in for a long time awaiting a lower and then sat in the safe due to the lack of a rear sight so im just getting around to really fooling with it.

the guys name is

Christian Tizon

and email is.

[email protected]

im possitive hes a AR15.com'er

here is the first messages he sent me regaurding the upper....he was interested in another rifle i had but after we couldnt work that deal out he said he had a "New CMMG" i told him i would only be interested in the upper and he explained how it was brand new in the box..no mention of Del-ton or of any problems with the upper....as you can tell this was almost a year ago so i'll have to find the rest of the convo in my old emails...cant believe it took that long just to get a rifle together to find out its not what he claimed ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>

a list of his weapons he sent me also never listed a del-ton upper or rifle

im beggining to think he has a CMMG lower and a del-ton upper and just called the whole thing a CMMG,..........I guess i should have been aware and asked for the spacific maker of the UPPER but when he told me it was a WHOLE BRAND NEW CMMG RIFLE i figured the upper would be a CMMG and after the list he sent me there was no reason to doubt it as he never listed any other makers that he owneed other then CMMG and stag

NOTE: i left out his other weapons out if reaspect.... i wouldnt want someone posting my log book on the net so i wont do it to him...i only included the AR15 type rifles he listed

Currently, I have 3 AR-15 (cmmg and stag),

that was his email to me listing his firearms....i took of the list containing everything but the AR related ones but forgot the ones he mentioned in the text...i edited those out just now out of respect for him as like you say...i wouldnt post a list of my own firearms so im not going to post his..unless they are related to the problem of course.

i sent him an email to both emails he used while we did the deal..so im hoping he gets back to me... after this long i wouldnt make him pay for the upper as i should have inspected it better when i recieved it and not let it sit in the safe for so long but i would like some info from him reguarding the maker and the feedramps.
