I am getting ready to put a USOptics on order, namely the 1.8-10 x 44 SN-3, and would like any feedback on the USO line....I will be purchasing the USO without ever holding one....on reputation only....Last time I made an order of this size and $ amount without holding was my RRA 1911, and man did I do the right thing.....

Thanks,

IMO, I own USO and NF. The glass in my NF is better. For the money I will go NF every time. I see more USO's fail at matches than I do any other brand.

But rest assured that if something does ever happen to your USO their customer service is the best in the market.

Love mine.  The only gripe I have is the cross hair thickness, the scope being a first focal point, at 10X the cross hair cover the 1" square I shoot at.  Higher magnification USO scopes have thinner cross hair, at 17X, 975yds the cross hair will cover/mask an one gallon water jug.

You will get spoiled.  Once you're used to using the SN3, you'll only be satisfied with another one or something better and more expensive.  I have three Leupold Mk4s only because they're for SPR, SAM-R, EBR clones, they have a narrower FOV and the low light capability isn't as good either.

On left, Mk4 LR/T at 10X; on right, SN3 at 10X.

Great feedback,

Caver....when you say fail, what exactly happens?  And are we taking a large number.....interesting, I will take that question up with the USOtics folks.....

I had an SN3 1.8-10x44 with the ERGO objective, EREK elevation, M40 windage knob, and illuminated reticle. When people say they are built like a tank it is no joke, these are heavy so keep that in mind. I sold mine only as it was too much scope for the rifle I had it on, and I really wanted an MST-100 in the first place but they were not available at the time.  If I were to order another SN3 I would probably get the 37mm objective as the 44 is big and may not provide much of a difference in practical terms to justify the bulk, that is just my opinion and I am not an expert. The optical clarity on mine was really amazing, but the eye releif was a little bit short for my preference once I had it in place on my M1A.

Good comments....

This scope will go on a LaRue OSR, and looking for long range capability.  More of a bench rifle and not a carry....I do see the USO's are a bit on the heavy side, compared to the others, but weight is not really an issue for me.....

Thanks,

USO > NF the glass isn't even comparable honestly if you can find a difference in quality you are full of it because both are so clear it's really not even a comparable aspect. I think USO hands down has the most customizeable scope on the market and if you call them up and talk to anyone over there a couple times they will steer  you in the right direction.

I have seen the USO illumnation module leave its happy home, on an SN-4. Was on a 16" middie , had probably 500-800 rounds run under it when it let go. As I understand it they re-engineered that part and it will no longer go leaping out, but perhaps Caver has seen some of the older ones fail?

If you realy want to read alot about USO's go here  the guys over on the hide, are way more picky then us AR guys are,   You will be happy with a USO,

I have both a USO and a NF  and I can honostly say that my USO is nicer but I would not ever hesitate to buy another NF

USO is completly custom, to your specs,   The NF comes in about 3 flavors

Glass,  I would say the USO may be a hair clearer but when your buying 1500.00 + optics the glass really shines in lowlight conditions and at far distances,

build quality  (USO built by americans in America)  You ever have an issue with your USO call and they will take care of you.   NF scope built in Japan Assembled in the USA.

The USO is built like an M-1 Abrams on Steroids and the NF are built like a Bradley FV.

Hope this helps

Buy the USO,

Just be prepared to buy another one, two, three or whatever the wallet can stand.

It is a fine product.

Yes these all help....I am placing the USO on order this week.....I called last Friday and the quoted time is 16 to 20 weeks, that is fine with me...as I have a TA11 to use on the OSR while I am waiting in the USO....

I am sure the USO vs. NF is splitting hairs, but I have elected to go with the USO......
