Quick question....I changed my fsb with a low profile gas block. I liked the shorter length gas block so that is the one I mounted. What do I use to cover the unfinished exposed part of the barrel that the original fsb covered?

If it's the blackish phosphate finish, Brownells sells a marking pen type touch up paint in flat black. I use it for nicks and pin ends.

Yes, it is a black matte finish. I'll give the pen a try. Does this work well on larger areas such as the ring around the barrel where the fsb used to be?

Several applications with the marking pen, allowing it to dry in between apps. should do it.

There several gunsmithing paints that are good.
Look on Browne;;’s and Midway.

Sounds good and thanks for the info. I saw a product some time ago that you rubbed on, let it sit, and then wipe it off. I can't remember what the product was or what type of metal it worked on.
