I updated my XM177E2 to be more correct. Barrel replacement to a pencil type and a modulator. Short of getting a stamp and cutting the barrel, it's as good as I am going to get. At this point the forge code CH upper is the missing piece. I do have a no code upper, but it is not Colt. I'm not sure that is not a better choice for this XM177E2 clone... As always I'm open to suggestions.

That looks like one of those one piece 5.5 moderators. If so you can get the barrel cut and pinned at 11.5. Doesn't look bad though.


I see you are not cutting the barrel. You do not need a stamp for a 11.5" with a pinned 5.5" moderator if that is what that is......what length is that?

Thats what I was thinking too (the 5.5" 1pc). The barrel looks to be around 13" or so. Looks longer then the usual 12.5-12.75 + Brick/ring.

The barrel is a 16 inch (16 5/8) and the modulator is a 5 1/4 reverse sleeve and adds an inch at the end. It leaves 5 inches of exposed barrel between the modulator and the FSB.
