Are you sure it's not C MP?

If it's E MP, I couldn't tell you......C MP marked is a rather hard to find Colt...........

Positive.
Marked with an "E"
Identical markings to your pic but with an E.
Definitely GI though.

I'll upload some pics in a bit...

I believe its an Emco barrel?  I have seen a few posts about these lately.  From what Ive read, people seem to be happy with them

Emco?
I hate to admit this, but I've never heard of them. Do you have any history on these?

There was a post not too long ago about them. I hadnt heard of them either before reading the thread.  Do a search for Emco.  It should come up

Search returned nothing. I remember the post, it's been awhile though. Went back 30 days and got nada.

These barrels were from a military spares contract, but due to problems with a high percentage of these barrels, the contract was cancelled and all existing barrels were recalled and were slated to be destroyed.  Barrels released to the civilian market may be fine, or may be one of the problem barrels.  The problem was that the chambers were rough, ringed, and/or out-of-round.

Bummer.
Barrel, "appears" to be of high quality, with nice chrome and finish. But appearances mean nothing if the barrel has internal problems. Guess I won't know till I shoot it.
Wish me luck, I hope I got a good one.

This is interesting:

n MSG, 18Sep01: subject: TACOM No. MAM-01-027, Converted M16A1 rifle to M16A2 rifle with “E” marked barrel.  Summary: Over 90,000 converted M16A1 to M16A2 rifles using Emco conversion kits have been fielded to TRADOC, FORSCOM, Army Reserve and National Guard units.  All these weapons were fired by Anniston Army Depot when they test-fired 43 rounds through each barrel for function and accuracy checks.  Out of a group of converted M16A2 rifles fielded to Army Reserve units in 1996, Fort Dix has identified that 7 rifles from a deploying MP unit had roughness in the chambers which was affecting extraction and causing stoppages.  The Army Reserve Command issued a message to all of their units stating that “E” marked barrels should not be fired and implied a safety concern.  TACOM-RI does not consider a weapon failure to extract an expended cartridge case to be a safety issue.  A QDR for the Fort Dix failures to extract has been submitted and the situation is under investigation.  POC: Neal Christianson, DSN 793-0034 (309-782-0034), [email protected]/.

Adding:  Somewhere in that message or another message, it stated that any functioning "E" marked barrels/uppers were to be considered "undeployable".   Basically they were relegated to practice/qual weapons quarantined to the states, I guess.

if the chamber is rough you could always try some fine steel wool and a electric drill to polish it up.

ETA I dont think this would hurt and is just an Idea...check with a good gunsmith first

It may help, but the chrome lining is pretty hard and I'm thinking that you may not get much out of that.  If you have a rought chamber, anything's worth a try, though.
