have just purchased a new bushmaster m4-type upper, and plan to acquire the completed lower next month. my question is: would yall recommend that i get a bushy lower, or are other mfr's lowers adequate? i am aware of the 'avoid at all costs' names, but among RR, oly, and american spirit, are there variances which would cause compatibility problems with my upper? needless to say, i would prefer the opinions of someone who was not trying to sell me something, which is why i'm asking here rather than at my dealership. thanks in advance, E (p.s. this is intended as a fun gun, as i have other rifles for strict accuracy work) |
| All lowers "should" work, but I would recommend staying with brands that have good reputations. If you aren't out to save a few bucks, go ahead and get a Bushmaster lower just to keep it all Bushmaster. Otherwise, I'd probably say Rock River Arms as a second choice. |
| I do not work for a gun manufacture or a dealer and I would have to agree withe the others the armalite, bushmaster and colt are all excellent but the RRA, ASA, and DPMS are also top rate and as far as the accuwedge I would buy the lower first and wait until you see how well it matches up to the upper then, if needed buy the accuwedge. |
You really only need one if you have a loose fit between your upper and lower receivers. I myself have never needed one. Here's a link to one: www.bushmaster.com/shopping/lowers/acu1b.asp |
