I know that when it comes to lower receivers the only thing that really matters is what roll mark you like. How about flat top upper receivers? Does the same apply or are there some more reliable than others? Also if you guys can recommend good ones and why it would be great!

I think it is similar to lowers.  But a from a reputable dealer on here and a and you will get good stuff.

I have upper receivers from Daniel Defense, LaRue Tactical, Rock River Arms, Bushmaster, CMMG, Stag, DPMS and Del-Ton and they are all great quality.
