I notice there are two small areas in my upper recever where the coating is eigther chiped or worn. Comments on this would be appreciated.

Light wear is normal. Some even get the  wear mark down toward the chamber area where the cam pin rotates and drags alittle. I have that from a Factory COLT ( 1986)  to  Bushie and RRA's. Pic's would help us a little better but I would go out on a limb and say your seeing normal wear marks. Keep your bolt lubed with a good OIL  and it should stop at some point and normally wear no more. It's normal to be found in these rifle. Cheers WarDawg

WarDawg pretty much covered it.

I will add that some rifles wear in this area, while others do not.

My Sabre has about 2mm of silver (aluminum) showing on either side of the cam-pin area in the upper. At first I freaked, then took down a Colt 6601 and...same thing. I have concluded that it is normal and just fine. Lube, shoot, clean, repeat.
