I am in the process of building a high-end .22LR rifle and I am thinking about using the Vltor MUR-A instead of the MUR-S for the upper receiver. I will use the CMMG bolt group and Spikes Lothar Walther barrel. My question is: does it make sense to buy the MUR-A with forward assist instead of the MUR-S without a FA? The CMMG uppers I have seen in the past, had a fake FA. Is the FA functional in a .22LR?

Also, would it makes sense to purchase the shell deflector from CMMG and does anyone know if it will fit on the MUR?

Thanks!

Some CMMG kits incorporate a FA.

The shell deflector should work on the vltor upper IF the vltor upper uses a standard ejection port door.

I went with the slick sided model but my bolt is a spikes. I have yet to have a situation where I would have needed the FA.

I did not use a deflector either.

Thge forward assist is an option for the CMMG.
The shell deflector/ejection port doot will fit any mil. AR upper
