I'm sure this is probably a stupid question but I've got to ask. Are all AR15 upper and lower receivers made from aluminum? Are either ever made from steel? If so, who manufactures steel receivers.

99.9% are alum.
There has been some steel ones made in the past... mostly for bench shooters who want as much weight as possible. I don't think anyone currently manufacturers ones made out of anything but polymer and alum. You could certainly machine one out of anything you like though. |
