[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Upper receiver question

I had a question in regards to uppers. Are all 556/flattop receivers the same?
I noticed on anew DSA flattop receiver that on the left side rear where the charging handle latch hook attaches or clicks I to the receiver I'm loosing the finish because there is no cut out. On my RRA receiver at the same spot there is a little box area cutout where that hook rests.
Is one better then the other?

My guess is you're wearing the latch down, not the anodizing. That said, all of my uppers have that box on it. I guess DSA wanted to save an operation on the mill.
