Hey guys i was wondering if yall could help me out with this. Im trying to decide whether i want to go down to 14 or 16 inches or if i wanna go 24 inches. Right now im shooting a standard 20" A2. I like the look of the 14" but the 24" with a free floating hand guard just looks mean.hat

What price range are you looking in?  What will the rifle be used for?

More than likely a plinker type. As far as price goes, anything under $700.

16" is the new 20"

14.5 is the new 16"

All SBR's(10.5",11.5",etc) are the new 14.5's.

24", well if you're not shooting varmit or punching paper from really far away, what's the point?

The smaller the barrel, the easier it will be to sell the upper if you don't like.

I have a 10.5" MRP, 14.5" Noveske, and a 24" Bushmaster Varminter.

The only reason I have the 24" Bushmaster is because I was buying the rifle with my dad, and he is in love with long bench guns and so I caved in for him.

The 24" is great for longer ranges and shooting from a bench, but that is about it.  For general plinking...do not get a 24" barrel.  Way to much length and weight to enjoy shooting offhand for more than a couple rounds.

My vote is for 14.5 unless you don't want to mess with getting a flash hider pinned on.  In that case, get the 16" barrel.
