Is the VIS upper heavier than an upper with FF rail such as LaRue, DD, KAC etc? I know that various FF rails have different weights, but is there a noticeable wight difference vs the VIS?

I think it'll be lighter but not by much if you compare it with Larue/DD rails.

I don't think people are buying the VIS for weight saving, but more for rigidity and the monolithic design.

Oh and don't forget it looks COOL.

Actually for some reason I thought the VIS would be heavier. But I didn't want to get one if it was noticeably heavier than an traditional FF upper/rail.

THE VIS WEIGHS MORE THAN AN UPPER RECEIVER AND FOREND OF THE SAME OVERALL LENGTH BY NO MORE THAN A FEW OUNCES. WITH THE VIS, YOU DO GET A HEAT SHIELD PLUS THE ABILITY TO REMOVE YOUR LOWER RAIL.

EXACTLY WHAT LENGTH VIS COMPARED TO WHAT OTHER FOREND?
