I already read the best stock fot you thread, but I would like opinions from people who have used them. How are they, do they eliminate rattle? how sturdy, how's the cheek weld? If you have a vltor and another brand of collapsable stock wich do you like better?
Thanks in advance

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I have the standard Vltor stock on 2 of my rifles and I love them. They are tight fitting stocks and I love the cheek weld. Very nice for the money. I like them better than the LMT SOPMOD (although I just got a SOPMOD for my SPR build)

I own a Vltor Modstock (carbine).

It's one of the best stocks I have ever used, on any firearm, ever.

It has minimal rattle while still being able to telescope easily, and the cheekweld/storage compartments are comfy as hell. Thge only problem is my facial hair gets caught in it sometimes. It's very sold and very high quality. I wouldn't hesitate to lay someone out with a butt-stroke from it. I couldn't say the same for my 6 position bushmaster stock.

You can't do wrong.

I have two Vltors, a standard carbine and a club foot model.

Reasons why I like them:

Rattle free
Cheek weld
Battery storage
Modular design with interchangeable parts
Other accessories are available like QR sling swivels and rubber buttpad
Available in different colors
The factory will replace it if it breaks by accident or the owners fault

For guys with facial hair, tape or apply filler on the gap.

It's a lot better than my LMT M4 stock which I replaced with the Modstock.

I bought the standard carbine modstock  for my lttel m4setup... It stayed about a week before I put it on my Rem870 and went back to my 4pos colt on the AR.

THey just don't feel right to me on that kind of gun

thanks for all the info guys, I have been wanting to replace the original stock on my rifle since I got it, just feels flimsy and the rattle drives me up a wall!  One thing I forgot to ask, has anyone put one on a DPMS rifle? if so did you have to buy VLTOR's tube or does the dpms one work? thanks again

I just put one on my bushy replacing the standard 6 position stock.  It does have a very slight amount of play when fully extended but it doens't rattle.

You have to buy a mil spec buffer tube or use the one that comes with the vltor kit.  The only AR that comes with one is colt.  Although LMT and CMT may have one too.

It's hawt.
No rattle, extrememly sturdy, storage compartments are great.
The cheekweld is great if you are not a nose to CH type, if you are then that part of the stock will probably be too far back.
Mine replaced a regular M4 stock, and now I'm going to order the rifle modstock for my SPR.

Is there any advantage of the club foot over the standard? Or is it just a cosmetic thing?

Cosmetics has nothing to do with the clubfoot.  The club is for shooting prone or supported with the support hand placed around the toe of the stock and holding it into the pocket.  Used for precision or with MGs.

Ah, okay. I'm kind of out of the loop with the fancy AR accessories.

No prob.  Do a search on the VLTOR, clubfoot, and Magpul PRS and you will probably find out a whole lot about them.  In the PRS review by Bigbore (I think) he's got an example of using the club.

Just personal preference, the magpul is more comfortable and more solid. At least for myself. Try one if you can before you choose.

I've heard great things about the Vltor, Magpul, and LMT sopmod when it comes to cheek weld. All I have are A2s and an old fashioned basic CAR stock. How would the cheek weld compare to the standard A2?  The Vltor does seem to be the most reasonably priced of the fancy stocks, and I've heard fantastic things about them. Thanks for any more info.

I have one that I use for both my personal AR but also my issue M4.  Better cheekweld than the standard issue, storage compartments, and the side sling swivel are all improvements.  Been thrown around, banged against the ground, used as a door knocker on a Stryker ramp, stepped on, yeah its durable in my mind and well suited for my use.
