All,
Sorry for what's probably a real noob question, but I'm building an AR and I bought a VLTOR EMOD collapsible stock system for it. When I open the box, I see a serious little piece of paper that states, "WARNING the enclosed recoil buffer system are part of hte A5 rifle recoil system. Thee parts are NOT the same as standard carbine or rifle receiver extensions or buffers. Attempting to use these parts with standard carbine or rifle recoil systems will result in damage to the firearm. 
Now for what I'm building. I'm starting with a CMT billet upper and matching lower, with a 20 inch Wilson Combat bull barrel chambered in .223/5.56 Wylde. So, what's the deal with the warning? Your experience and thoughts are greatly appreciated. Okie |

the receiver extension for the A5 system is a different length then a regular receiver extension, since the buffer is also longer, using the long buffer in a shorter receiver extension will bang it pretty hard and probably not allow the bolt to cycle properly. I havent checked, but im guessing you might not even be able to lock the bolt back.
it works imo. You get a heavier buffer, with a lighter spring (it is the same as a rifle length spring IIRC) that is why they warn you. |
