So I am looking to purchase a sling today and I have a couple last minute questions.

Through some research and taking into consideration the needs I have for a sling I am thinking a 2 point sling will work the best. I need one that will work with a backpack and will allow me to use both hands for something other than holding the weapon and at the same time keep the rifle from smacking my balls. I am also limited on the money I can spend on a sling since I would like most of the expendable cash to go towards ammo.

From what I have seen the $35 VTAC sling looks like a great fit. I would love to have the new Magpul set up but at $80 just for a sling I do not see that happening.

So my questions are:
Is there any other hardware I need for the sling? I have a Magpul CTR stock and a 16" BCM Midlength upper with stock handguards and the sling swivel that is mounted under the front sight post. Will I need to buy a new endplate? A sling mount for the CTR? Will the bottom sling swivel be okay?

I do plan on buying a Magpul MOE handguard once they become available for the midlength gas system but until then I am sticking with the cheap handguards.

You can use the regular sling swivel but it's nicer to have on on the side.

I have a VTAC sling mounted on a rifle with a free float tube. I had the sling mounted on the swivel at the bottom (6 o'clock) position but did not like the way it seemed to twist the rifle so I added a swivel on the left side (9 o'clock). It feels much better now.

As for the rear, you can get a QD swivel or slip the sling through one of the stock slots.

You can use the V-Tac with your current set up, but you should consider getting a side mount front sling swivel.

Just loop the rear of the sling through the CTR and attach it to the front sling swivel.  I used the 5.11 V-Tac for a while.  If you want a really nice 2 point look at the LaRue / V-Tac Padded sling.  I went to the LaRue and I wish I would have done it to begin with.

Thank you for the help

I do plan on betting the MOE stock so as soon as I get that I will probably mount a side swivel to it. As long as the sling will work on my current set up I am happy, I will tweak it once I can get the parts.

I really do not want to go over $40 for a sling so that it why I am sticking with a basic one. But I did see the Larue model and liked the idea of it.

Just a update but I decided to get a the VTAC extra padded/wide sling for $46 after shipping. I am sure I will love it and just wanted to thank everyone who helped me out again.

I will sketch your names into it as a remembrance

Since you have the CTR stock then I would go with the Larue (VTAC) sling. It has the QD swivels on it already. Then purchase the DD QD front mount. I had to go with the regular padded VTAC because my SOPMOD stock doesn't have the QD hole. I had to purchase a KAC buttstock mount and the DD front QD sling mount.
