| What's the current value for an early Colt Commando upper in like new condition? |
|
That is an item on my WTB list. Value depends on authenticity, completeness, condition, etc. You can E-mail me at: [email protected] If real deal will make you an offer. Am wanting it for study for the Carbine guide: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=123&t=296919 ETA: Detailed questions to establish authenticity and completeness: 1) barrel markings, should be MP on right side of barrel between legs of front sight base, also a 12 under the guards 2) upper receiver should NOT have a forge code under the rear sight on the right side 3) upper receiver front pivot pin hole should be counter bored on the left side 4) handguards should be a gloss black 5) gas tube should have a bend directly infront of the slip ring 6) upper receiver should be grayish green with a thin finish, not painted black 7) should have a slip ring rather then a delta ring 8) bolt marked MP 9) carrier unmarked, with two square stakes on the carrier key bolts 10) firing pin flat headed on the end the hammer hits 11) extractor spring should be longer then modern ones, and no buffer insert |
Ekie, Not to clutter up the thread, but both of the early carriers at my house, a chrome smoothside, and a parked M16A1, as well as another parked A1 piece I used to have, have round punch marks on the key. Come to think of it, so does the semi worn out chrome key that's been in the parts box for the last 20 years. So would a carrier in his piece be unoriginal if it had the round punches? |
Am not aware of any round stakes after say 1965 or so. |
