Does anyone use Colt lowers with variant caliber uppers?  I have never seen/heard of one (and did a search).  I'm interested in a 6.8 upper for my 6520.  Will it work?

Yes it will work fine.
Colt is the original mil spec AR15.

Which is why it has Mil-spec FCG pins right?

wow  you never miss a chance to troll in a colt related thread do  you?

I bet the commercial buffer tubes that are bigger are OK though right?

That's what I thought.  I'm just interested in picking up another upper, and got to over-thinking it and realized that I had never seen a "Brand xyz" upper on a Colt lower (or vice-versa).  I did read about pin size differences, but didn't find any other obstacles.  Hopefully, I'll be able to pick up a nice flat-top upper, probably in 6.8, for some night vision stuff - it would look funny on a carry handle.

Thanks
