I need a sling and need to order one tomorrow. I read the "What is your favorite sling?" thread about 5 times. I have a few questions related to slings. First off, I ordered a RRA M4 Tactical Entry LE/Preban with the RRA 6 Position Stock.....should be in within the next 2 weeks. I will be using this AR on duty. What type of the sling is the BEST? I have seen 3 point slongs, 2 point slings, and 1 point slings.......which is the best and why? Next, I have seen CBQ Solution Tactical Sling in Brownells catalog. If I were to order this sling, would I need the CAR-15 w/M4 handgard model sling???? I have also heard of CBQ Solutions Special OPs Patrol Slings. I really like this one as well, but again, am unsure on which sling will need my duty needs. Thanks for any and all info. |

I just found CBQ Solutions website, and now I am pretty set on their Special Ops Patrol Slings, in Black. http://www.cqbsolutions.com/sop_sling.htm However, since my RRA M4 Tactical Entry w/ 6 Postition stock hasnt come in yet, and this is my first AR15, I really have no clue which version I need. They have this listed for the CAR-15/M4: #136 BLK (Oval M4 Handgard) #136 BLK-ERB (Oval M4 Handgard) #137 BLK #137 BLK-ERB What about the SOP Armed Forces Package? #200 BLK-ERB Like I said, this is my first AR15. I want to get the correct sling and not have to send one back if it is wrong. I don't know about the oval M4 handgard model compared to other models..... Any help/suggestions?? |

The six position stock is what throws a wrench in the works. You can either use the SOP sling for the AR15 (it is the buttstock that affects choice), or you can buy the GG&G Rear sling thing for the RR 6 Position stock -- that changes the sling that you need. I recommend that Rear sling thing option with that stock; simply because the AR15 stock is not the perfect solution; and the M4 slings wont work because the top band is not present on the RRA stock. |

Ok, well I just did an Internet search for "GG&G Sling Thing" and basically it is just attachment points, correct? One attachment point swivel is anchored onto the rear 6 Position Stock and the second point swivel is anchored onto the front sight, is this correct? So it the GG&G SLing Thing is just two attachment points, then I still need to locate a good sling. Should I assume then I only need to find a 2 Point sling for this system, where the webbing will be wide enough, but not too wide, to fit into the swivel openings? THANKS AGAIN! |

CQB Solutions sells the GG&G sling things, so you could get a sling and the sling things from one place. You could get a 2 point sling, but a 3 point system will work also. If you like the CQB Solutions SOP sling AND you get the GG&G Sling Things then you would need to get one of the following UNIVERSAL fit SOP slings: #199 BLK #199 BLK-ERB #199 OD #199 OD-ERB The only difference among these is color and whether or not they have the emergency release buckle. These universal slings are for weapons that already have slings swivels attached to them, which yours would if you've got the GG&G Sling Things. |

Wildcat78, and Others; Thanks for the info. I know someone stated there are RRA specific Sling Things. Can anyone confirm this? CQBs website doesnt state if there are RRA specific Sling Things, they just list front/rear Sling Things. Or is this something I have to specify when ordering? I found this: http://www.botachtactical.com/gggarslinthi.html And they do specify a separate number for RRA stocks. This just pertains to the rear RRA stock, correct? So this must be something I HAVE to specify when ordering. No other website specifies a RRA specific rear stock mount, odd isnt that? So after I buy the front and rear GG&G Sling Things, and the Universal CBQ Solutions Universal Sling, I am looking right at $100 for just adding a sling. Oh well, I gotta have a sling! Lastly, is this the BEST way to go for adding a sling, before I place the order tomorrow? |
| How do you invision using the sling? Is this for use from your patrol car or SWAT type use. If you are using it from regular patrol I woul recoment the single point sling. Allot more practical for on and off. Wheras the 3 points tend to be more complicated. The 3 point patrol type slings are overkill for that ussage. |
