Bushmaster or RRA?  AIM has the Bushy 24" for $925, ADCO has the RRA for $838.  I like the barrel twist of the RRA better, but I would like to flute the barrel for wieght loss, and have it refinished in something non reflective if possible.  Suggestions, thoghts?

I'm sure the folks at ADCO could hook you up.  Call today, for they will be out next week (at least Steve will).

I have a 20" RRA Varminter and love it.  That barrel is VERY heavy though.  It would be nice to ditch a little weight.  Then again, this isn't a rifle I'm dragging through the woods much, so maybe the weight makes the rifle a little more stable for me.  I use a Harris bipod with a podlock.  The rifle is very steady.  You hit on one important difference between the two - twist.  The 1:8 twist of the RRA is better for heavier bullets.  I also like the Wylde chamber, which is a little tighter than the Bushy 5.56 chamber, yet you can safely shoot military ammo.  I think it's a great compromise between SAAMI and NATO chambers.

My Varminter spits out M855 so well I haven't even purchased any match loads to try.

For some reason I seem to think the Bushy rifle is chrome lined.  If so, it's another plus IMHO for the RRA.

The Bushy Varminter  is not chrome lined, chrome-moly vanadium like their DCM barrel.  It is a 1 in 9 twist though.

With my Bushie Varminter I can get 1/4 MOA groups all day long with American Eagle 55grain ammo.  Which is the cheapest ammo at my local gun store.  Another guy at my club has a RRA version and the best he can do is 1/2 MOA.  I dont like the bright stainless steel barrel, that is why I payed more of a black one.  The fluted barrel does help cooling and carrying.  I have had my Bushy since it first came out and shoot it all summer and clean it one in every 300 rounds.  And the accuracy is the same as when I bought it.

Here is a thread that I've been babbling about my RRA.

So far I'm happy.  Mind you, I have around 100-150 rnds through it, if that.  So far so good, though!

I had the same choice over a year ago. I went with the RRA 24" because of the faster twist rate, the wyld chamber and the trigger. The BM was on my dealers shelf and I waited three months for the RRA. I'm very happy with the choice I made. I got two prairie dogs off the same mound at 392 yards with it this spring.
