I have been hunting ground squirrels and rock chucks for most of my life. Last week I helped a friend kill close to 50 rock chucks in a few hours.  This was one of the most amazing days of shooting i have ever had. One thing bothered me though. It was such a pain to take the time to reload my Winchester Mod. 70 XTR Varminter Sporter in .22-250 every five shots. Although the old 250 does an excellent job exploding varmints and the loads are screaming fast (4000fps), I was longing for my 30 round AR mags. I thought about selling my AR15 M4 build up and buying a varminter.  After polling Arfcom and friends i realized there was only one thing to do...Get Both!

My upper shipped last monday.

Well I would have just purchased the complete rifle from RRA.

RRA makes a good 2-stage (not the best) but definately the best for the price.

I have a RRA 24" Varminter.

Just came back from Montana Rat Hunt, and I would have loved to take out that many Rock Chucks!!!  Did you want to exterminate the whole mountain side???  I would think you would want to leave several for future growth of the population.  There was one rock face (that we hunted) in Montana that produced a good number of Rock Chucks, but a group of LEOs went in and took out every rock chuck they could find.  Now for two years in a row...not one rock chuck has been seen at that one site. They will be back but it will take some time.

Here is mine.  It's the RRA 24" upper with the MAGPUL PRS stock, AMEETECH LOWER, and RRA 2 staget trigger with the GG&G bipod on the end..  The PRS stock is amasing, it really balances the heavy rifle out.  As far as accuracy, so far the best is .45" (5 shots) at 100 yards with black hills blue box 69 gr SMK's, but I still have several other loads to test this weekend (pic's to follow).  This thing is an amazing shooter!  You will not be sorry!!!

Oh man, that is the sweetest varminter i have ever seen!!! I have checked out all the SPR picture threads, but that one is exactly what i would want. I love the tan highlights!  And it's a plus if it shoots good too! I really like the Magpul stock.

Varmints better beware with that beauty. What's on that for optics? I just bought a 20" RRA and was wonder what I should put on it for a scope. Any thoughts? I'm a big Nikon fan and was looking at a 5.5-16.5x44 Monarch or a 6.5-20x44.

I've been very happy with my scope from Mueller Optics.

The scope in the pic is no longer on the rig, but was a Bushnell Elite 3200.  I replaced it with the Super Sniper 20X on Warne Tactical Rings and YHM towers.  As far as Nikon goes, they make great scopes.  I have the Nikon Titanium in 5.5-16.5X44 on my Sako 300WSM and it is awesome.  I have beat the crap out of it in several hunts in Idaho, Colorado, and Arizona. Zero problems and it holds it's zero fine on the 300 WSM.  The Super Sniper scope was chosen because it's about half the price of the Nikon/Lpd range and my buddy has one that works great!  20X seems to be a bit much though, I think I might have gone with the 16X instead.

The Magpul PRS stock is the way to go - easy to setup just the way you want it.  And I find it is very solid feeling, not like the telestock on my 16" that 'wiggles' a bit.  As for triggers, I LOVE my Geiselle.  Easy to install and setup, feels great.  Unfortunatly, now I want one for all my ar's, (5 in various stages of waiting for parts) and I cant afford 4 more Geiselles .  My first build is this 24" Heinz 57.

OMG -- look at that space gun.  Does that thing shoot bullets or laser beams?  Pretty impressive looking rig.

The stainless barrel is glass bead blasted to give it a less shiny look. More like a satin finish.
If you want this look just take some steel wool to the barrel and you can acomplish the same without paying the $30 RRA wants.

Yep,
It has a Badger handguard and Ironstone stock.
If you ever interested in one, contact Frank & Vivian [email protected]. They both are great people and support their product fully. Frank competes in long range centerfire matches and this buttstock is a direct result from Frank and Gerald Steele completion experience!!

BTW Frank has been the only dealer I know that would send me their product, without payment to tryout. If I liked it, he just had me drop a check to him when I got the chance!!! And for any reason I didn't feel it match my needs just to send it back!!
GOOD PEOPLE for our sport!!

Well this is getting me fired up. I have a RRA 24" varmint upper laying around, and a Superior lower. I am thinking a 16X Super Sniper. I have 2 stage trigger tuned by John Holliger, White Oak Precision. Was going to put that in a DCM rifle. What are some options for mounting the scope on the upper? One piece mount or  seperate rings?

There was a long lead time getting the upper and I caught the carbine bug before it arrived.

I kind of like heavy barrels, even for a carbine.
