Does anybody use these and how do you run them?

I've been toying with adding one on mine.

I'm a fan of vertical grips, but they can make using a light problematic w/the usual solutions being a pressure switch on the vfg itself, having the light mounted  low on the right side so it's accessible to the support hand thumb or mounting the light at 9 o'clock which requires moving the support hand thumb to the left side of the hand guard to reach it.
HTH...

Lots of people use them including myself. Where they are mounted and how they are used varies greatly from one person to the next. How you grip them depends greatly on the accessories being used such as a light, laser, ect.

Personally I use a thumb break grip because it's comfortable and works for ME.

You'll figure out what works best for YOU as you practice.

I've used vfg's and handstops.  The former are bulky and protrude while the latter keep the hand at a bad angle.

Then I found the B5 Systems Grip Stop.  Durable, ergonomic, affordable...best out there

I run a BCM stubby VFG. I use it more as an index point/hand stop.

I use the Troy aluminum grips. Very solid and not cheap plastic like most

They tend to get hung up on gear.

Hasn't happened to me, yet, not even during transitions.

After trying the BCM KAG, Seekins AFG, and a random handstop or two, this above (BCM shorty as a handstop) used to be my go to configuration

I'm a Bcm fan, and I hate the Kag. Just can't get a good feel on it
