So I am pretty set on a vickers vcas sling but am not sure if I want it padded or not. I am leaning towards not padded, but wanted to hear what you thought!

This is for a standard 16" carbine, it was not designed to be a super light build, but it is not at all heavy. It has a gov profile barrel, larue 11" hand guard, magpul ubr stock, eotech sight, troy BUIS and a very light flashlight. I may add a bipod, but the parts I listed are all that I can think of that contribute to the weight.

What are ou going to do with it?  Are you going to carry it for extended periods?  If so, get the padded.  If not, then get the regular one.

I do not anticipate carrying it for "extended periods". The difference is only $5 or so. Are there any const to the padded or just personal preference?

Cons to non-padded?  I dunno, since mine are the padded versions.

I have a padded one and wish I would have gotten the non-padded version.

Yeah, that is what I think is going to happen to me. I like the simpler, more adjustable (I think) non padded. I just want to make sure that the padded one is not SOOOO much more comfortable.

Why is that?

Personally, I like the pad.  The only disadvantage I can think of is that it does restrict how short you can make the sling.

Why is that?

just hoping it would cinch up a little tighter without the padding

I was stuck on this same decision but decided my shoulder can take it, so I got the non-padded.

I think its plenty comfortable, and looks a bit cleaner, but thats just me.

Makes sense.  I've been looking at them too.  I've been using a non-padded Vtac and unless it were about 8 pounds heavier I couldn't really see a need for padding.
