Why do we have a surplus of ACOG and EOTech pictures but we have hardly any of what it looks like through an Aimpoint?  :)...

Can some of you Aimpoint owners help me out... I'm in the midst of this Aimpoint/EOTech debate and i'm trying to keep an open mind :)..

Thanks for your help!

It's hard to get a cheap digicam to focus properly, especially when you need 4 hands to keep everything straight...

Troy -

Are those from a M2 or ML2?  Thanks!

It's an ML2 (when I can afford NV, I'll be able to afford a NV-compatible AimPoint!), but the difference between the two is only important if you actually own NV.

Troy's right, this small project turned out to be just a little tricky. Hopefully the pics are good enough but here's one of my M2's with a view through a killflash.

I would like to note that the dot and the ARD are much clearer in real life than on film....Er...Pretend film I guess in this day and age.

Thank you guys for helping me out with this... it seems that aimpoints are a lot harder to take pictures through than an eotech or acog...

i just wish i could look through all of them before i buy them but no one in nebraska has them :(...

Yeah I bought that a while back to have something to keep on me after I totalled my Benchmade CQC7. I'm really wanting a CQC-10 but that'll do for now I guess.

WHy do you guys have the ON/OFF swithes on the right side?

Tweak, I suspect it has to do with "traditional" scopes.  IIRC my aimpoint manual said that this was how to do it UNLESS you were left handed or something along those lines.  The fact is that as long as the axis is correct it does't really matter which side the windage/elevation is on as long as one is top dead center.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey Tweak,

Does it matter?!? Not being a shithead, just wondering. I could be mising something.... Mine is the same way, right side.  I have seen people with them on the left side.

I have mine mounted on the left side.  It allows me to control the brightness without removing my hand from the firing grip.

Tweak,

The switch is placed on the far side to prevent the switch from being activated/adjusted when the rifle is hung on a 3-point sling.

Cant say Ive ever had that happen...but Murphy is always around.

I have to adjust mine a lot because of large differences in lighting once you go from outside to inside.

Lumpy -

You use a M2 or ML2?  And also, how do you feel about killflashes?  Thanks!

ML2.

Never used a killflash.  Of course, I dont mind if someone sees my front lens. [;)]

M2 with killflash. arms throwlever mount with forward extension for repeat zero.  cut carryhandle rear backup sight.
It is an outstanding carbine setup. I cant help you with the aimpoint/EOtech debate but I can say this set up has served me well.

Rotate those lens caps another 90 degrees so that they flip down and lay against the top of the rifle rather than blocking the view from your left eye. A poster below your original post has a good picture as an example.

I've read that the Killflash will increase the contrast between the dot and the background on bright days.  Is this true?

I know about that, won't work in my situation but thanks though.

Ah, I can see how that might happen. It's not a concern with my set up so I have the switch on the left where my non firing thumb can turn it on. I ground a notch in the knob (where the dot is) so I could feel the position of the knob at night.

Well, at least my Aimpoint is going to SHOT. It'll be on the Valkyrie Arms DeLisle 2000 prototype.
