Anyone like the EMOD over the regular Vltor stock??  I have a regular Vltor but am curious abt the EMOD.  I havent been able to see one in person yet.

Pro's/Con's ??

Hi,

I can't give a comparison cuz I don't have both, but I do have the emod.  I think the difference is that the emod(stock portion only) is about an inch longer, it has a different shape, and it has more storage for batteries.  I like it, it performs as it should, and it has a nice interface/cheekweld.

The Emod is a great stock and has alot of great features.  My only issue with it is that it is longer, wider, and heavier than my LMT Sopmod.  I chose to stay with my Sopmod.

I have both and prefer the older Clubfoot.  I can't really point out why, maybe it's because I just trained with it more and am used to it.   Ah, only time will tell I guess.   Both are excellent stocks though.

This is precisely why some choose it over the LMT or the earlier Vltor.  Being longer, it has a better cheek weld for some shooters who constantly find their cheek half on the stock and half on the tube.  Some guns just need the extra few ounces in the buttstock to balance better, too.  YMMV

I really prefer the EMod stock.  I am tall and trim, and that puts my cheek almost completely on the extension.  With the EMod, I get a great cheek weld on the stock, rather than resting on the extension.  It is great with a scoped flattop upper.  On a LW build, I do think it is a bit heavy and throws the balance off to the back a bit.  I think the EMod is best if you think you might use a scope or have a midweight or heavy barrel.

I have been running a eMOD for some time now, the sotck has an ingenius butt plate and a harden steel toe that could be used as a butt stroke tool.

The added longer stock length fits my 5"8 shooting style perfectly. since witht he LMT, I usually run the stock at number 1 position, just one notch from fully closed, the eMOD give me almost the same without even opening the stock. basically pull the gun out of gun bag or car lock with out having toe adjust the stock.

The eMOd use the same latch as the Clubfoot, it is that butterfly style latch which I liked on my Vltor, it is easier to use then the standard latch, I just grab the stock with my thumb and push up on the latch and pull back or forward with the stock.

plus, the stock is price just right with all the basic hardware.

If you already have a LMT SOPMOD, i do not see the necessite to make the switch, they both fulfill about the same purpose, but if you have a standard or enhanced M4 stock, this is one solid upgrade that can be recommend to anyone looking for a more sturdy, more capable and a more egronomic stock.

I have both.

I just purchased the larger EMOD for a precision build but it would be great on an SBR even.

It is substacially larger then the original mod stock.

I've got the EMOD, Club Foot and standard carbine Modstocks, the EMOD is my favorite.

Like other members said it's longer, heavier, more storage area and I would recommend it for medium to heavy carbines and SPRs but not on lightweight carbines because of the weight.

The EMOD is different from the other Modstocks because it have a pressure mechanism around the locking pin which always puts pressure on the buffer tube to prevent it from being loose, it has a tighter fit compared to my other Modstocks.

Another feature I like about the EMOD is the great removable buttpad which the toe of the buttplate is rolled under giving the EMOD a better feel when the carbine is held in the "out of pocket" heads up hold position.

I got the Emod yesterday and really like it, but I have a dumb question. How do you keep the batteries from rattling around inside the storage compartments?

You can just throw some cleaning patches in the clubfoot battery compartment

The Emod is built like a brick shthouse and the cheek weld is superb.  My only complaint is that it has a bit too much lateral wobble.  Vltor is probably working on fixing that.

If you have a beard and don't like your whiskers getting caught in the battery tube, slap some Bondo on it

Lots of great info!!!  This is mainly for a SBR build so I may have to demo one 1st if I can find one locally.  I usually use my Vltor on a 3 or 4, so I'm guessing that w/the longer length, this will prob change to a 2 or 3.

Do you think this will be buttstock heavy w a 10" upper?  How abt a 5" upper (9mm) ??

I didn't care for it on my 10" or 10.5" rifles.

TRY SIMPLY REMOVING THE BUTTPLATE - A ONE SCREW MANEUVER. IT GIVES THE STOCK A DIFFERENT PERSONALITY:

Maybe Eric can come up with a thinner pad for the EMOD?  I like the extra length, but I suspect a thinner butt pad would do just as well.

This complaint annoys the ever living hell out of me.  I have had hairs pulled out of my goatee by the leading edge of carbine stocks that include the standard CAR stock, Colt M4 Type II, Vltor, LMT SOPMOD and the Magpul CTR.

It hurts...for all of a second.

But then again, I never heard grown men talk about something not being "comfy" enough until I starting dinking around on the internet.

+1
i have a full scraggly beard most of the time and i have VLTORs on most of my guns now because they are about the only one that DOESN'T pull my hair out.
its not the grooves in the stock that are usually the problem, its the leading edge pinching between the stock and tube, which is usually not a problem with VLTORs because of their tight fit on the tube.
YMMV
