Just installed a Vltor MUR upper on my Noveske lower. The rear take down pin is extreamly hard to get in. Pretty much have to tap it in and back out. Does the same thing on my Spikes lower. Is this common for a MUR upper? Does it just need to be broken in?

Happens randomly with any upper or lower due to small, individual imperfections from one forging to another.

My MUR was the same way, it's "looser" now than it was, but it's still tight to move the take down pin.  No issue there.

Same thing here. Sit down one day with a small stick or something plastic and just push it in and out about 100 times. It will loosen it up. Just remember that at that point youre dealing with tolerances of three parts. The pin, upper, and lower. Taking it in and our will help work them together.

I wouldn't say they are imperfections but instead the lower might be towards one side of the spec and the upper might be on the other side.  I think they call it tolerance stacking.

That's the phrase I think I was looking for. Thanks.

Had one like that but it did not seat on 4 lowers.  Sent it back for a replacement.  New VLTOR they sent fit perfect.  Could try for a replacement.  It is rare, but mine was out of spec.

Appreciate the info guys. Thats what I was actually wanting to hear. I will try that this weekend and just work it in and out many many times. I did just try it on my Core 15 lower and it fit perfect.

I only use MUR uppers for that exact reason. A tight fit is good!

its not the upper thats the problem. it is showing you that your lower is actually out of tolerance.

Whats the chance 2 lowers are like that? The Core 15 was a factory built gun. I just removed the lower and sold the upper. Its not intolerable,  just kinda annoying. The gun just needs to be broken in I believe.
