Hey guys i did a search but didn't find anything and it wasn't really working for me. Anyway i plan on building a bomb ass AR out of mostly BCM witch seem's to make some Awesome ar parts. Anyway. Vltor mur says there uppers are "it is dimensionally correct"  "There is not a better upper receiver available" and says "When you own a Vltor MUR, you have the highest quality upper receiver available on the market today" So just asking are they any better then regular BCM (Bravo company) Uppers.
So is there any down sides to this vs regular upper or any downside to it? Or it just for looks
This ar is not being set up for long range. All tho would be sweet to be able to engage targets at a distance. Just want the best reliability and performance i cant get..
So Vltor mur or BCM Upper?

Anyway thanks and if some has asked this before sorry about. Hopefully this is in the right spot as well.

Try the Spikes Blem uppers at Aim Surplus for $70 bucks or whatever they are.

Read - no functional benefit with any stripped in spec upper.

Some people think the VLTOR uppers are pretty though.

^yep looks is all for the vltor
The other thing you should know is that if you buy a bcm upper receiver it wont say bcm on it....
only the full uppers say bcm
so you could buy any in spec upper receiver it wont matter (its whats inside that counts lol)
bravo doesnt want you buying their upper receiver and using other "less quality" parts in it (bcg, barrel, etc) but still saying their name on it.

Ah it doesn't really matter about saying bcm. (Would be cool but Meh) But what about finish? I know it doesn't matter but i want it to be pretty as well.
But i do really like the looks of the mur but is it any worse then the regular? Like a reason you wouldn't want it? How's the finish match the Bcm?

Thanks guys

The VLTOR might be heavier than a normal one. And it costs more

Only reasons I can think that you wouldn't want it.

Finish will probably be pretty, for the price tag it should be. But there is no promise it will match your lower finish unless you buy a matched set.

Take a look at mega receivers.... they have to have the nicest finish of any forged receivers I've seen.

To me I kinda like the vltor, but I wouldnt really want to use it, it just doesnt "look the part" of an AR upper and I certainly wouldnt spend the amount it goes for.

Well I bought 3, 2 with forward assist one with out. I got a deal on them with a LEO discount and the prices were a little steeper when I started to build AR's.  I do agree with the MEGA comment.  I have a MEGA forged lower with a MEGA Monolithic Upper waiting on a stamp.  The pre-fit of the lower and upper with the pins in is amazing.  Sometimes we make purchases based on reputation of a company and reviews of certain items.  Every positive review of the Vltors I have seen has been extremely positive so I bought them.  Do I regret it ... no.   I bought them to be different than most builds you see as well.  Hey if Noveske uses the VIS they gotta be doing something right.

Well i looked at some Mega receiver's and i don't like the forged lower. With that dimpling? on the front of the mag well. Im not sure on getting a billet lower as well. Was just looking at the upper. But im still stick on Bcm upper vs a Vltor upper I'm a big fan of bcm.  Also if any one could say how a Vltor upper sits with a bcm? Hot it fits and how the finish matches.

Thanks
