The new ones do not and very few of the old ones did.  There was reported to be a bad batch out there with poor heat treating, and of course it turned into the internet myth that all Vortex FHs are junk, which they are not.

The flowering did happen and it happened to quite a few of them, but ya, bad reports spread like wild fire.

I've got a new version installed on an AR pistol and it kills all the flash. Very impressive. If that doesn't sell you on one nothing will.

I've got one on a 16" .308 and it virtually eliminates all flash.  THAT'S saying something!  Shootin it without the fs installed, it looks like a flamethrower!

I did a side-by-side comparison with the newest Vortex (G6) and the A2.  I used Lake City XM193, which usually puts out a serious fireball from a bare muzzle in the dark.  The test was on an indoor range in total darkness.  We shot the bare muzzle first  just to get a control.  The Vortex virtually eliminated all the flash.  It resulted in no natural night vision issues.  The next test was the A2, which was pretty good, but had about 3 to 4 times the amount of flash.  It would problaby not effect natural night vision either.  If it did, the negative effects would be minimal.

I also had the opportunity to try the Vortex with artificial/electrical night vision (military-issue... don't ask me what type because I don't know exactly).  The Vortex did not create and distracting flash whatsoever.  I was impressed.
