So I am looking to put a lower magnification scope on one of my AR's and pretty set on a Vortex, although they seem to have five stages of quality I guess you could say. To get it out of the way I will not be spending the money on a Razor. So that leaves the other four; the Crossfire V-Plex, Crossfire V-Brite, Strike Eagle, and Viper line. Now I know the crossfire V-Plex is the lowest end so I'll probably stay away from that one, unless anyone with experience can chime in on it's quality. So how big are the jumps in quality from the V-Brite/Strike Eagle/Viper?
It seems like the V-Brite runs around $250, Strike Eagle if you can find around $325, and PST's are around $500. Is the Viper line that much better than the others listed? I'd like to not get up into the $500 range, but if the quality warrants it, I may consider. It will primarily be a range/paper puncher gun, any suggestions? |

The viper pst 1-4 is HUGE in the hand. Pics are deceiving, mine was in mrad and the reticle while it did look very cool, was not useful to me. Microscopic holdover marks even for young eyes, maybe it shines in nv modes but I wish I'd got the leupold instead. Simpler reticle, shorter and lighter. I sold the viper within two weeks of owning it.
From a quality standpoint I had zero complaints, it was beautifully made. Just enormous. If you do go for a viper, buy used. Vortex is known for the awesome warranty if anything is wonkey. I wouldn't have got one if I had to pay retail for it. Traded an eotech 512 for mine. |
