I'm looking at these two Vortex offerings and am  having trouble seeing the major differences. Granted my knowledge of optics is limited so any help would be appreciated.

Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x44 BDC Rifle Scope

Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 BDC Rifescope

Go with the 40mm it will be easier to fit with smaller rings. Generally the larger diameter will let in more light, but will also be harder to fit on an AR, if a bolt rifle then either will be fine imo

The crossfire is made in china where the diamondback is made in the Philippines if I recall.

Generally speaking the Crossfire line does not test out well in objective comparison tests against its competition, usually close to the bottom.  Diamondback, not sure. Should be better.
