Well, I have been looking for a sight for my New AR. I happened to come across this Vortex Spitfire 1x and I paid $150 for it. I think I got a pretty good deal after doing some research on it. Wondering if any of you out there have this sight or know if it is a pretty good sight for my AR? After much research, for the price, I decided to take a chance on it. I hope I didn't make a mistake.
Money is a little tight as I just bought my AR, and I was going to go with a much less expensive and lower end Red Dot, but like I said I happened to come across this. Hoping I can get some good feedback on this sight. Thanks everyone |

I've got two of them. Good glass, good reticle, holds zero, good illumination. It's not quiiiiiiite a true 1x but it's close enough that you won't notice outside of 10 yds. Worth every penny I paid. What exactly is the 1x and what is it supposed to do? Sorry for my ignorance lol. |

I also have 2 of them - one on a 9mm AR and the other on a mid-length 5.56mm. Both have been flawless. To my eyes, there seems to be a slight magnification, but nothing that for me impacts their use up close or at distance. To clarify distance, most of my time is spent at an indoor range at 20 yards or less, but I've also had a couple of opportunities out to 100 yards. |

Many less expensive scopes that say 1X, either a fixed 1X like the Spitfire or a low powered variable with the low end being 1X, aren't actually 1X. At close ranges you can tell the difference, as your view through the scope will appear a little different than your view outside the scope. It's not an issue for anyone looking to put shots quickly on target with combat accuracy. |

On the current model Spitfire 1X can you switch the mount around to where the attachment knob is on the other side? I ask because I have a left handed Stag and the ejection cover flips up and I don't like it hitting the mount know. I saw a youtube where they took out the riser and then put the bottom base back on but I couldn't tell for sure whether it could be turned to have the knob on the other side but it looked like it could.
I can get one of these at a fair price, probably about $50 cheaper than the new Spitfire 1X AR will be so I'm just wondering if I should wait for the new one because it's going to be better or what? I know the base is different and would work for me. |
| I recently purchased one, the model number on the box is SPR-1301. I only needed a T20 screw bit to remove the base clamp, flip it around, then screw it back in. I'm going to continue using it with the mount riser, so I added blue locktite when I noticed there was none on the screws holding the base clamp and mount riser on. I have it on an AR which has Stag Arms upper left hand eject receiver. |

Was going to wait for the new Spitfire AR 1x but think I'll get the current one since I found it a good price and actually like the looks of it. I'll need more than one so if it works out by then the new one will be available and I can decide between them. THANKS for the info. |

Picked up 2 Spitfire 1X scopes today at Cabelas. I just got finished putting one on my AR15 and will test it out next week.
First thing: it took me awhile, adjusting the fast focus eyepiece and the eye relief to where I didn't see multiple rings.....I'm not talking about the big and little ring on the reticle, they were multiplied several times in the view......very odd and not what I expected. I now have it set to where "most" of the time the reticle is clear. But next week's test will be the deciding point on keeping this 1X. |

Cabela's just placed the 1X Spitfire on "sale", down from $299 to $199. This puts it in direct competition with the Vortex Strikefire 1x red/green dot optic at $179.
Is the discounted 1x Spitfire a great deal, or old technology, on it's way out? Trying to decide if a prism scope with limited eye-relief, is better than a regular red-dot? |

There's a new model coming out so I'm sure they're trying to get rid of the old stock. |

Is the reticle visible with illumination turned off, and how does it appear? It's a prism optic so the reticle is black when the illumination is off. I picked one up for $150 from PSA during black friday and am kicking myself for not getting two. I'm a fan of vortex products and also have a strikefire ii and their magnifier on a swing mount. For anyone with an astigmatism like me, the spitfire 1x is awesome. If you don't have an astigmatism, it's still pretty awesome. |

Might as well add the Spark-2 into the Vortex mix. Since it, the Strikefire-2 and now the Spitfire, are all within about $20 of each other.
The Spark-2 seems to be the smallest & lightest, has a 2 MOA dot, and offers multiple mounting heights in the same box. The Strikefire-2 offers both red & green 4 MOA dots, and is available with either a low-mount or high-AR-style. The Spitfire offers a black reticle with circles & a dot that are visible even without battery power. But it is heaviest and has limited eye relief, and it only comes with a high-AR-style mount. Decisions, decisions . . . . |
| Update: just got my Spitfire that I was asking you all for some info on. Mounted it on my AR turned it on and so far I really like what I see. I'm going to the range this week to zero it in and see how I like it. But so far so good. I really think I'm going to like it when it's all said and done. I appreciate all of your help and advice on this particular optic. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks everybody! |

I had a spitfire 1x some time ago, I sent it back for a problem.
I'll try to explain it: seemed that with both eyes open the image of my two eyes weren't collimated. In other words what I saw with my right eye (that who looked into the optic) was horizontally and vertically shifted from what I saw with my left eye and I could not merge these two images very well in my head.... However I noticed that this bad "effect" decreased a bit if I tiled the optic about 30/40 degrees. I don't have and never had any particular eyes problem and I don't use eyeglasses. I also have a 1-6x optic and don't notice this in 1x. What do you think? |
