Spied a Vortex Strikefire at the local fun store today and was impressed with what I saw. I'm seriously considering picking it up to use on my everyday/HD carbine. Does anyone have any current personal experiences to share? I'd also like to kindly ask anyone who might be predisposed to crap in this thread because it is an inexpensive imported optic to please refrain from doing so. I'm not a bit interested in that. Truth is that money is tight right now and I don't have a lot of money to throw around, so just do me a favor and save it for another time. I already know how much it costs and where it's made, what I need to know now is how it works.

Preferably someone will respond that has had one in the field for a while and will know how it holds up under weather and being banged around a bit. I've seen a few older posts where even the early models have held up well on guns that get fired a lot, even on hard recoiling guns. I've also read one thread where a guy has dropped his hard a few times and it still worked perfectly and held zero. But now these sights have been out there for a while and I'm wondering if any issues have popped up that one should be aware of. Please be honest, if there's something you didn't like about it please let me know.

I have 4 of them.  One sits on top of a duty rifle that gets banged around everyday, and rides in a vehicle getting exposed to temperature extremes. .  I have never had any issues with it.  Since I have 4 of them I obviously like them.    All 4 are still on the first battery that came with them.   I don't expect aimpoint life but so far battery life has not been an issue.   I have not had a problem with it holding zero.  The only issue I had was with my older 2 haging weak battery springs.   I stretched the springs and the red dot stays on.    I have never used them with the green dot or nv mode.

The dot is hard to see in daylight. I sold mine. I had the Bushnell Trophy ACOG lookalike. I would take it over the Vortex any day.

My only complaint about the Bushnell was its weight. After handling the Vortex I realise the wasnt much difference between the two.
Bushnell mount is intergrated and it feels much more sold. Gave a perfect co-witness. The T reticle was much cleaner IMO. Easy to see in full daylight. From what I have seen on the EE you can grab one for $120 easy.

Have you ever thought about doing a test and leaving the dot on to see how many hours/days it lasts?

I love mine. I used it this weekend in very bright sun it was acceptably bright. It could have been a tad brighter but I had no issue seeing the dot. I would definitely buy it again. Vortex stands behind their product 100% so no worry if you do have an issue. Visit their location in the industry section for more info.

p.s. a couple of my buddies checked it out  this weekend and now planning on getting one so it must have impressed them too.

I have one and have no complaints. It holds zero from my treatment.
Im not trying to tear it up, its no safe queen.
It is still on its original battery and I've had it since Dec/Jan or so.
Manual says the battery last for 1000 hours.
My is the gen 2 with a 2 hour shut-off so I cant let the battery run down to test that.

I still like mine. I have it on a AR pistol that i used hunting last year and shoot at least every other week had it 5~months.

It's held up shooting in the rain, dropped once, 7 day hunting trip running 8hrs~ a day, it's been bright enough using it with a tlr1 at night etc etc......

While it's been bright enough to use in every lighting condition i've put it in it definitely isn't as bright as my aimpoint M3.

It wouldn't be my first choice for a HD gun  but i have a LaRue buis
mounted behind mine so it's wouldn't really bother me if i had to grab
it.......

The battery life on it makes it the clear choice out of the cheaper red dot's imo.

I have only heard good things about it.  Obviously it isn't an Aimpoint, but for $130 I can look past that.  I am probably going to buy one for my Bushmaster pretty soon.  It has a lifetime warranty so I can't imagine that it sucks.  There have been some reviews on here so look around.

Well, based on the opinions I have been reading from you guys I decided to go ahead and give it a try. I picked it up last night and mounted it on the rifle and got a pleasant surprise. I have an M&P-15 OR that has a set of MI fold-down BUIS on it. When I mounted the sight I expected to see a lower third co-witness just like what I read about. Much to my surprise I found that my BUIS had absolute co-witness! Yep, there they were, right smack-dab in the center of the tube with a sweet little red dot perfectly perched on top of my front sight post! Haven't shot it yet obviously, but I know my irons are zeroed and when I look through the dot sight and take aim with the irons, the dot is perfectly positioned to the point of aim I use with them, and I never so much as removed the windage or elevation caps. Shooting this thing in is probably going to be a breeze! Did Vortex decide to start shipping these things with an absolute co-witness mount, or is this just a fortunate combination of the red dot and my particular set of irons?

I have one on a 6.8SPC and love it.  Many hundreds of rounds through it and it works great...solid, reliable, holds zero...  I also like the red dot/green dot option.

Also, should you have a problem, thier customer service is the gold standard.

Be well

Just received mine today. Mounted on my SW MP15T with the Troy BUIS and also have absolute cowitness. First impressions are very positive, seems sturdy, controls easy to use, dot seems bright in the little bit I've played with it. Can't wait to get it ti the range and give it a workout. With the good reviews I've seen and the amazing Vortex customer service, i'm glad i decided to go with the Strikefire.

I see in the description for the Strikefire "Parallax free past 50 yards."  How does that differ from an Aimpoint M4swhich is supposed to be a "parallax-free design"?  Is there an issue with parallax on the Strikefire inside of 50 yards?

The parallax is very small under 50 yards. Less than an inch, so you shouldn't have any problems shooting at man sized targets.
