Hi Everyone,

I did a search in the build it yourself section but couldn't find the answer to my question above. Anyone out there who has this flash hider installed please chime in and let me know how it was permanently attached to your barrel. I've been told that holes may need to be drilled and pins placed. If there is another way of doing this so much the better. Thanks in advance for the info!

Just pin & weld it on, you can also use a phantom on a 14.5''. If you can't do it send it to ADCO or DENNYS GUNS.

JB weld isn't going to do it legally, your best bet is to have it pinned and weld

Heheh...Darn! haahah...I was hoping to get the easy way out...What about the finish where the pins are is it really noticeable? Any pics? I'm debating now on ordering the pre-drilled hider that PK firearms has for sale. THanks!

Like everyone else, always looking for the "easy way out"...

The law is very clear.
If it was easy, it would probably not be "permanent" enough to satisfy the law.

I do pin/weld jobs on Vortexes as well.

Sarcasm duly noted...I guess you missed mine...heheh....thanks for the pic! I found someone around down that can weld it on after I receive the pre-drilled hider in the mail. THanks everyone for your input! Thanks AR15barrels for the pic as well. It helped me get a better idea of what it will look like.

I don't know if you know but it also has to have a little dimple hole drilled in the threads of the barrel for the pin to go into and then welded

WMHM4,

Yeah I read in the building yourself section that the when you drill the holes in the hider you have to be careful not to go too fast and end up drilling through the barrel.

Just so you know, the Vortex flash hiders are case hardened and they will laugh at regular drill bits.
Either start with a pre-drilled one, or plan on using carbide drill bits in a rigid-clamped setup in order to break through the hard surfaces.
