So, last week I put together a Mega lower/LMT barreled upper together for a friend of mine. The LPK was RRA....and everything went together as it should. The only odd thing I noticed was the disconnector didn't always want to "release" the hammer when the trigger was released (part of the function check). After looking everything over and lubing the FCG well (I'd already wiped with CLP before installing) the disconnector seemed to work fine afterwards (both catching and releasing the hammer). I checked the operation of the FCG again after putting the upper on the lower and everything seemed GTG.

My friend went out and shot his AR today and put roughly 200 rounds through it (the china-mart Federal bulk pack stuff). While it performed flawlessly for him, he told me that once at around 20 rounds and again at around 100 rounds the  trigger pin started walking out. Any ideas what could be causing this? I had him mic the pins while we were on the phone (hammer and trigger) and both are sized indentically. And, yes, I am sure the hammer spring is seated on the trigger pin groove. I wonder if this has anything to do with a faulty disconnector? Any ideas guys?

Could be that the lower was not machined correctly.

That's kind of what I was wondering.....

I had a Sun Devil that did that. When I talked to them - in person at SAR West - about it, the guy at their booth denied any responsibility and said it had to be out of spec trigger pins, and that I should try mil-spec ones like DPMS. I told him that I had tried about a dozen pins in the lower and every single one walked after less than a mag. He said to buy KNS pins and pointed at their booth. Another guy at the SD booth tried to say something as I was walking away, but I was so pissed that I wasn't really paying attention. I'll never do business with them again...

Make sure the tails of the hammer spring on one side of the triggers pin should be resting on the groove to prevent that.Check and see that its in its proper place and trie a different trigger/hammer pin.I have had problems in the past that stemmed from the pin itself being off.Raed the whole post then yea maybe the lower or trie a new hammer spring and see as well.

Definitely sounds like the lower wasn't machined properly, I have a Mega forged lower and a RRA LPK in it. I've only shot about 60 rounds so far, but the pin hasn't moved any. I know 60 rounds isn't a lot, but just as reference.

i just bought a piece together rifle made from a roggio lower that does this.  its on the front hammer pin, not the disconnector pin.  i think most of the time its just that the spring tail isnt resting in the cut on the pin. . . thats what its there for after all.

KNS pins are pointless unless you have a real problem with pin walk or own a pre nfa full auto lower. . . then its just insurance.
