The box that the 4 100rd boxes comes in says OM223BL BP223BL. The value pack boxes themselves are a redish-brown color.
55gr FMJ. Any idea what this is and how it compares to XM193? $39.97/100rd value pack. Looked like they had possibly 10 400rd cases. ETA: Change noted in color. Googled the value pack and found an old arfcom thread about it. Looks like the price hasn't changed in about a year or more... neither have the reviews. |

these are pretty hard to find here in north MS. They are comparable to remington umc.
Im not sure on the details but they are sub par compared to xm193 I would buy a few packs if i were you just to plink with. At around 39 cents around to your door its about as good as you are gonna find these days. Buy em' up and have fun plinking. Good Day, Stephen S. |

I bought one of the 4 box cases. We'll see how it goes.
Huntsville, AL. There's 3 walmarts on Memorial Parkway: North Memorial is a Super, then in the middle is an old school/subsuper, then South Parkway is another Super. These were at the middle one on Drake Avenue. Bought these to have some loaded ammo. I've got 1k bullets waiting on brass, powder and primers. No primers to be found so loaded stuff it is. |

Lots of reading on here about this. Here's a couple of the more recent, longer threads:

I probably should have done a search first but........ I was so excited about seeing 223 at Walmart that wasn't $18 for a box of 20.
I bought some shitty, and I mean Shitty looking reload ammunition from Larry's in Huntsville. $90 for 200 (or 250). Wish I'd found this Walmart stash first. Did I mention that reloaded stuff looks shitty? Can't remember brand or anything. For plinking, looks like this stuff will work just fine. I'll try to remember to followup after shooting, but A) I'm terrible about followups and B) it'll probably be a few weeks before I can shoot which increases A). |
| Walmart in Jacksonville, AL, had twenty boxes of the 100 pack on sale for $39.97 on Tuesday. I bought ten boxes. With our 10% sales tax it figures out to more. It's still the cheapest .223 around this area and I don't have to fool around with shipping or wait for weeks for my order. |

They're trickling into the Memphis area stores, too. I've put my hands on 9 boxes in the last week. Based on what the store clerks are telling me, the 9mm & 45acp ammo is leaving the store within an hour of reaching the shelves. The .223 values packs are lasting a little longer but are usually gone within 8-12hrs of hitting the shelves. Same with the 22lr values packs...
You just got to be persistant & a little lucky... |

found some of this at a WW in Hilton Head, SC.. 4 boxes came in the night before and left with us. you better stay down on the island.....dont you come to the upstate and try to get my stash. I just picked up 7 of these today. good range ammo and gives you decent brass for reloading (which i might do sometime in the future). |

I guess I hear of many less issues with the Bulk pack ammo than I do XM193. And although I haven't shot a lot of the bulk pack because I reload, what I have shot has been problem free. I can't say the same for XM193.
I just openned a box of XM193 the other day and there was a bent round in it. This round still fit into my headspace guage, but the neck and bullet were dramatically off of center. I can't say if it would have been safe to fire or not. I also had an XM193 round that had the case rim mangled because it had apparently got stuck in the chamber of a known good rifle. |

I have both setting here in front of me. The Federal XM-193 says; 5.56mm M193 Ball. The Federal Value packs says; 223 Rem 55 grain FMJ I've always heard 5.56 was a hotter load than a 223 Rem. It is. The 5.56 is hotter and will fragment at a greater distance, if you're planning on using it for defensive purposes. Having said that, with the XM193, you'll sometimes get a bent round and you can't always be sure the primers and case neck are properly sealed and whatnot. With the .223 load, you won't get sealed primers or case necks (not sure about whether the primers are cirmped - probably not) but you'll get consistent quality ammo. For plinking, I'd rather have the .223; for defense, I'd rather have the XM193 that I had hand-sorted to weed out bad rounds. Having said that, neither of them are my first choice for ammo. |

Federal wally bulk packs have sealed and crimped primers. I didn't know that. I don't know why they crimp and seal them. I'd prefer to not have a crimp to remove. Back in the old days almost no commercial ammo had the crimp. |

I just opened up 2 boxes of Federal 223 Rem Vaule packs. They are stamped, F C 223 REM. With crimped and sealed primers right? They're good. There's some pictured here in my thread: FC Brass |
