I was going to get one of these and send it to ADCO to have it turned down to pencil profile.  Are these GTG?

I don't see that you would lose enough weight off that upper to warrant the cost involved in going to pencil.  They are GTG though.

I'd shoot it before you decide whether it needs to go pencil or not, you might find that the govt. profile is just fine.

Not going retro, just keeping weight down.  But from replies in this thread, turning down to pencil might not be worth the money anyway.

I will if I get it.  Haven't made up my mind yet....

I've got a Stag Model 2, which has a 16" barrel, 1:9 twist, non-chromed lined, carbine length gas.  I haven't decided if I want to build my other lower up into a 20" rifle and sell the Stag to do it, or if I should get a mid-length, chrome lined, 1:7 upper for the Stag.

I'd go for the midlength upper for my current carbine as I like the handiness of it.  Of course that's going to be costly in its own right since I'll need a mid length daniel defense rail for it as opposed to carbine length rail I ahve now.

Another concern is muzzle blast from a 16" barrel if I ever had to use it for serious situations.  A full size rifle isn't as bad for the ears on that count.

Maybe I should just take the NFA plunge and get a suppressor for what I've got onhand.  I don't know, I'm very indecisive about this.
