If I were to go with a slipover type FH such as in the photo, on a 14.5in barrel, would it be legal to just to a tack weld on the underside joint where the barrel and FH meet or would I have to drill a hole in it and pin it as well?

Four equidistant welds or one continuous weld around half the circumference.

So If I just get the bottom half of the joint welded I'd be NFA safe with no pins?  Just wanna be sure haha I don't think I'd look good in orange

No one uses that method. Too much heat. Just pin it, its easiest.

check with the atf.  the only two methods ive heard were 1100 degree silver solder and blind pin welding.  ive never heard 4 tack welds or the bottom half done.

reguardless, just blind pin it.  not only is it less heat its also fairly easy to remove should you want to/need to remove the muzzle device.  physically welding the device to the barrel isnt going to allow you to remove it later.

Were right. ATF no longer allows the 4 tacs.  Seam weld at least halfway around, hitemp silver solder, or blind pin and weld are still gtg, last i read.

Which method requires the least ammount spent on tools?
