This will be my first build so I want to get it right. I'm having a barrel made and the maker doesn't really have a preference on gas block. Are they all the same? I was looking at the Ripcord Industries gas block and also the Geissele one. If it matters the handguard will be a Geissele MK8. |
| Hey, if you ever plan on suppressing the rifle, either, buy a riflespeed or superlative arms adjustable gas block. Google them and you will know what to buy. If you're never gonna suppress the rifle, any good low pro. gas block will do. |

I have had a superlative arms gas block and it's always a pain to adjust and use. There's no way to know where you are in the adjustments, you forget, don't know where max and min are later...It was really a pain to me. |
| Look at rifle speed. It is pretty much the top tier gas block. You just have to order the correct length to reach out underneath your hand guard. Better to have an adjustable gas block and not need it than to need an adjustable gas block and not have it. |

Honest question and other than be able to adjust the gas. |

Can’t tell that it does anything any better than a cheapo. The o ring thing is pretty cool though. |

If I have a few around I test which has the best fit tight on the barrel before any screwing. And is staggered a bit off the stop to have the hole centered. But like others have said: SLR - Nice finish and seem mil-spec. Aero Precision - Never had any problems. And I have had good luck with just any old one in my parts box. If you have 2 or 3 just bring them to the gunsmith and let him mock them up. But if this is a fancy looking gun get what you like. |

They can be a bit too much if you have a Hi-flow can, a very aggressive brake without a can, an already well gassed barrel, or a combination of those variables. |

If its going to be a low profile, non-adjustable gas block, then just go with something that is of known good quality. KAK is what I would go with. Now, you mentioned it will be suppressed so something that is adjustable for gas is what I would go with as well. I would recommend a piston conversion for a suppressed rifle. I run the Superlative Piston system on all my AR's. I don't run unsuppressed so once I get the gas dialed in for reliability, that is where it stays. |
