I was looking at the 16" carbine the vltor rail.  Is there any people recommend for a carbine red dot build?

It comes to personal preference. I go mid length because it tends to shoot flatter, I have both 16" midlength (MOE hand guards) and a 14.5" hammer forged pencil barrel (also a midlength). 16" is red dot only the 14.5 is holo w magnifier w Troy bravo battle rail

BCM takes a lot of pride in there midlength system at a very fair price for the quality. Also as hat as handguards go if I could do it again I think I'd have gone centurion arms or bought another brand wothough 4 full rails for a little weight savings
