Hey Yall,
What can you tell me about EO-Tech's? I went to my local dealer and he talked about the 511 and the 512 one runs on AA and one runs on "N" bateries. Are they hard to zero? and Can a good "absolute co-witness" be acheived while using a standard front sight post (not flip up) and a rear BUIS? Thanks for the help, Rebel |

I chose the XPS-2 cause it runs on 123 batteries and takes up less rail space. No problems zeroing it in. Here is a pic I took of the co witness with a standard front sight and a cut down handle rear sight. Not the best photo but might give you an idea.

| I just picked up a 512, I love it. I also went and got the YHM 220 1/3 Riser for it since I must have full FOV I hate having half the window cut off.. and I am really used to 1/3 co-witness. I was never really into Eotech but after using it for a while now. I must say I love the thing. I would say if you want the best of CQ with the best of longer range shooting Eotech is the way to go due to the 1 moa dot.. you can really get nice groups out to 300m but for me its a CQ optic. I use my ACOG for anything farther out.. |

Now that EOTech has put out a transverse mounted 123cell, no one should be using the older type IMHO. Running batteries inline with the recoil has proven itself to be an engineering flaw in EOTech. I dont know why other optics have not show that problem......
IMO the hierarchy of RDS weapon sights is Aimpoint T1 Aimpoint M4 C-More Aluminum Elcan Aimpoint M2/3 EOtech XPS Primary Arms products Trijicon Reflex EOtech (standard) Flame suit on. |

Thanks for the help, Rebel I went with the 512 because batteries are easier to find. Run the Lithium AA's, they are worth the cost. Easy to zero. Just mount it on your railed upper and it's co-witnessed and good to go. |

From EOTech;
AA Battery Option The M510 and M550 are available with the universally available AA battery source as an option. The AA option also allows interchangeability with one common battery source across all standard battery powered gear. Now operators can stock, maintain, and deploy with one common battery for CQB optic, night vision systems, GPS, flashlights, radio equipment, etc. The AA version extends the battery life to 1100 at the nominal daylight setting and allows operation in extreme arctic temperatures. The AA models accommodate all versions of AA batteries including lithium, alkaline, and rechargeable types. The length is extended by 1.3 inches and all other functions of the HDS are maintained. Battery useage at the default brightness setting of 12 Type "N" Alkaline batteries: 200 hours of continuous use Type "AA" Alkaline batteries: 1000 hours of continuous use The Lithium AA's....well the package says they last seven times longer. |
| I picked up a 512.a65 and Im lovin it. easy to zero. have it mounted on the dominator mount. I have shot with Aimpoint and im a firm believer, there is a reason that MANY people put their lives in EOtechs hands. Lots can be said for other manufacturers as well, but since your looking at EOtech, i wont waste time talking about them since you have already made up your mind. Its your rifle and your decision, depends on how much you wanna spend. 512 is worth the money and once its sighted in, mine hasnt lost its zero in 2 years. |

look into the 517 its the 512 with a few improvements. He wants absolute cowitness so any of the riser-EOTechs are out. So, that basically leaves the 512, 552 and the XPS models (which is the one I'd recommend). And as others have mentioned, stay away from the N models. |
