| I am almost finished with my build if GM every gets my barrel I want in stock .. But I am in need of what spare parts should be had or carried at the range and home ??? I already picked up a PSA AR15 Complete Bolt Repair Kit - 7242 for pretty cheap .. I was looking to get a extra bolt and remember someone was selling new ones pretty cheap in the Equipment Exchange but can't find it again ?? Also where would be a great place to get the parts and are Ebay parts any good ?? They also sell Stainless and Titanium parts and does it really matter if they are the same price ?? Does anyone sell roll pins kits ?? |

It really depends on your use and round count.
If your competing or running carbine courses a spare rifle isn't a bad idea. Otherwise your bolt repair kit will take care of most issues for a long time at 1k rounds a year. Personally I fire about 1-2k a year split between two rifles and have so far replaced 1 mag, bent by stepping on it, and 1 firing pin, melted due to a pierced primer. The industry partner list is a good place to shop for parts. Ebay can hold deals but is also a good way to get stuck with fakes and airsoft parts. For an extra couple dollars would rather get parts from known suppliers. |

| I have spares for every part on the rifle but in reality you could probably get by with just a bolt, firing pin, firing pin retaining pin, and cam pin. Or just buy a complete BCG. Eventually you'll need to replace the buffer spring but that is more of a planned replacement than an emergency repair. |

Most common parts breakage I repair is broken locking lugs but remember this is for high round counts with lots of full auto firing. So a new bolt complete would be good to go. As far as spare parts are concerned, I typically have two of everything. I usually have a full set of lower detents and springs, firing pin, cam pin, firing pin retainer, extractor and extractor pin on hand all the time. I usually have them in a small compartment box in my range bag all the time. The same box also has spare parts for my HK and a few other spares I have managed to acquire over the years. For the box I really like this one: http://www.planomolding.com/fishing/stowawayr-utility-boxes/107000 the dividers are removable and you can customize it to hold all the parts you need, plus it is pretty inexpensive. |
